STORY
1948. Post‑war England limps forward under rationing and ruin. Families flee the bomb‑scarred cities for the countryside, while urban centers struggle to rebuild. Yet in the North Sea, on Holy Island, something far darker than war has taken root.
Holy Island was once a prison colony, largely forgotten during the Blitz. Its governor, his household, the monks of the monastery, and thousands of inmates remained trapped there — along with the prison guards who kept watch. But when relentless bombing unearthed a buried artifact beneath the prison foundations, everything changed. The structure, alien in design and impervious to fire, became known only as “The Eye.”
The Eye corrupts all who linger near it. Prisoners, monks, guards, even the governor’s family — all reduced to rotting husks, shambling ghouls driven by hunger for flesh. Those bitten join the ranks within days, spreading the contagion until the entire island is lost. Worse still, The Eye warps modern technology: radios fail, engines die, instruments collapse. Scientists are forced to rely on relics of the 1800s, the only tools that still function.
The prison once held 4,000 of Britain’s most dangerous criminals. Now its cells stand open, its weapons looted, its guards slaughtered. The governor’s stately home lies in ruins, the monastery silent. The island is a graveyard of ghouls, endlessly wandering, endlessly hungry.
You are a specialist summoned to examine The Eye. Arriving by helicopter, you witness its curse firsthand: systems fail mid‑flight, sending your craft spiraling into the lighthouse. You awaken among the wreckage, your team gone, supplies scattered, and the island crawling with the converted. Grenades, landmines, and discarded prison weapons lie scattered in the dirt. Survival is the only path forward.
Find a weapon. Hold your ground. The ghouls are coming.
